Otoplasty Considerations, Clinically Addressed

What age is appropriate for otoplasty?

Otoplasty can be performed from around age 5 or 6, once ear cartilage has fully developed. Many adults also undergo the procedure later in life for cosmetic or corrective reasons.

Is the surgery permanent?

Yes, results from otoplasty are permanent in most cases. Cartilage may relax slightly over time, but changes are minimal.

Is there much visible scarring?

No. Incisions are made behind the ear or within natural creases, making scarring virtually invisible.

Does otoplasty affect hearing?

No. Otoplasty is purely cosmetic and does not interfere with auditory function.
